ICAS A5.0/5.05 (5.0 rating from 1 votes)
Description: ICAS is a software that helps design airplanes and fleets (mainly commercial) using predefined componets. This logo is all that. At fi rst glance it resembles the tail of an airplane on top of the word ICAS, but the shape is actually a module that could be use to create a pattern showing airplanes in the negative space (visit http://www.vfs.com/~im53eduardo/pattern.gif to see the effect). I chose to create a more abstract element, something that would still feel familiar to the aviation industry without showing an airplane itself, to differentiate ICAS from all the existing airline, travel agencies, etc. which already incorporate a plane in their logos. The logo had to refl ect an innovative product which provides the user with a new level of usability and performance. The “cutting edge” factor is shown with the sharp edges and straight lines in the composition as well as the high contrast in the use of color. The type used to for the word “ICAS” is solid but italicized to show movement, progress, and to keep sinergy with the customer's logo itself. The font used is "Glyphic Nue-Medium Italic" but I altered it; the size of the bowls and counters was increased to allow readability even when shrinking the text considerably. Blue is used as the main color since it is the customer's institutional. The bright pink is used to give an accent to the composition, a focal point with such high contrast that will create the association of the logo in the viewer’s mind despite of shape or form. Why pink? Only the people at the vanguard would dare to use pink.
